Ariana Grande has officially broken her silence following the announcement of her incoming hiatus, which stemmed from “ongoing, public scrutiny”.
On Monday, representatives for Grande confirmed the singer will “step back from visibility” following the completion of the Eternal Sunshine Tour due to “ongoing, public scrutiny”.
Following the announcement, which triggered a massive response from fans and netizens, Grande decided to address the buzz surrounding her incoming break, assuring fans that her decision to step back was “not a reactive or impulsive thing”.
“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided, a plan that I had quietly made a long time ago. And it’s a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place,” the Positions singer said at her latest Eternal Sunshine gig.
“I want you to know that many, many things can be true at the same time… I heard that my fans were worried that negativity was ruining things for me. But I just have to say that could not be more the fuck opposite.”
Grande went on to reiterate that “multiple things can be true at the same time” and that “boundaries need to be set”.
“Human beings can need a break sometimes. Also, this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional and creative life. And nothing can away- or will get in the way of that. So I just wanted to make that quite clear.”

Joan Grande, Ariana’s mother, send ‘love’ after she announces break from the spotlight
The announcement left fans shook, especially as it came on the heels off her recent project, Petal, alongside a music video for its title track.
While the singer didn’t immediately speak about the announcement, Grande did share behind-the-scene snippets of the shoot on Instagram.
Alongside the fans and friends who’ve flooded the post with support — especially since it came after the announcement of her hiatus — her mother, Joan Grande, also gave her some love.
“You are magnificent… and this video is incredible!” Joan wrote.

As Grande’s impending prolonged break from fame continues to keep the internet ablaze, emotional videos of the singer during the earlier dates of her Eternal Sunshine Tour have begun to surface.
One video in particular features “The Way” songstress tearing up as she thanked her fans for support.
“Thank you so much for being such a loving presence in my life,” she said.
“I love my friends so much.”
According to news.com.au, this video was filmed in June during one of her gigs in Los Angeles. However, fans have republished the video following the news of her hiatus.

Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour will wrap on September 1 in London. Aligning with the hiatus, a spokesperson for Empire Street Productions confirmed to the Press Association that Grande has taken a step back from her West End debut with Sunday in the Park with George.
“We know this cannot have been an easy decision, and she makes it with our complete understanding and support. We wish her nothing but the best. The production will open at the Barbican in summer 2027 as planned, and casting will be announced in due course,” the spokesperson said.
