Ariana Grande shares her 99-year-old grandmother's adorable reaction to watching her in Wicked

Ariana Grande’s grandmother has melted the internet’s heart after the singer and actress shared a video online capturing her elderly relative’s reaction to watching her in the movie Wicked for the first time.

Marjorie Grande - whom Grande affectionately calls “Nonna” in a nod to her Italian heritage - can be seen looking absolutely entranced as she watches her granddaughter on the big screen.

Adding to the occasion was the location with the outing taking place in Grande’s hometown cinema, a place which she said she has fond memories of.

“Flew to Boca for a day to watch with Nonna at the movie theatre I grew up going to every weekend, Cinemark 20 in Boca,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

Grande, 31, also tagged her older brother, Frankie Grande, 41, who is a Broadway and screen star in his own right.

In the clip, Grande can be seen performing the song Popular as character Galinda/Glinda. The camera then pans to Marjorie and the pride in her eyes is clear for all to see.

“Thrilled to report that when the sugar glider had her drum solo Nonna exclaimed loudly, ‘Oh I LOVE that’” the Thank u, Next hit-maker added in a follow-up Instagram Story.

She was referring to a scene where a small, mouse-like marsupial, can be seen playing the instrument during one of the flick’s musical numbers.

It’s not the first time that Marjorie has shown support for Grande as she also features on three of her songs.

Her most recent feature was when she closed out Grande’s 2024 album Eternal Sunshine, providing the spoken-word outro for the track Ordinary Things.

In April, Grande took to social media to celebrate her Nonna - who turned 99 in October - becoming “the senior most person to ever appear on the Billboard Hot 100.”
