Over the years, air fryers have become increasingly popular with many households ditching their oven for the efficient kitchen appliance - and it seems the craze isn’t stopping anytime soon.
With the cost of living rising, investing in an air fryer not only saves you time in the kitchen, but they’re also much more energy efficient compared to an oven or hob, meaning you could shed hundreds off your energy bills.
Many foodie TikToker’s have shared their cooking videos which has led to a surge in demand for air fryers, with the hashtag ‘#airfryer’ amassing over 4.5 billion views.
According to retailer Argos, ‘air fryer’ was the number one search term last week, with 1.84 million searches, equating to three searches per second - so it comes as no surprise that they’re selling like hot cakes.
Not only were air fryer searches up, but the term slow cookers were up too by a huge 73 percent compared to the previous week, with searches containing the word ‘efficient’ up by 126 per cent (week on week)
Kettle sales were up by 18 per cent from Friday 2nd September, in line with Boris Johnson’s announcement that purchasing a new kettle could save you £10 per year on your energy bill.
Matt Leeser, Business Unit Director, Seasonal, Toys and Electricals, at Argos said: “The health and energy efficiency benefits of air fryers and slow cookers are all over social media right now, so it’s no wonder customers are snapping these appliances up! We’ve seen demand rise hugely, with 1.6 air fryers sold every minute last week.
