A fifth wave of Covid is currently sweeping the country, with cases hitting over 23,000 last week.
Covid-19 cases have been on the rise since the end of May and do not appear to be calming down at the minute despite hopes the summer wave may be approaching its peak.
Latest figures show the spike in cases is leading to more hospital admissions with numbers in hospital passing the 700 mark yesterday.

What are the latest figures?
A total of 10,435 people tested positive following a PCR test and 13,059 more registered a positive result after a home antigen test last week.
On Monday, the number of patients with Covid-19 in hospital reached 765 of which 35 of those were in the ICU.
This shows a steady 66% increase since two weeks ago when there were 459 patients with Covid-19 in hospital on June 14, and 23 in the ICU.
The positivity rate has now reached 34.3% meaning a third of people who take a Covid test come back with a positive result.
The highly transmissible BA4 and BA5 variants now account for the vast majority of cases in Ireland.
What are the main symptoms of Covid-19 at the moment?
According to the HSE, the most common symptoms of Covid-19 are a dry cough, fatigue and a temperature over 38 degrees Celsius as well as having chills.
As we move into summer, many people have been affected by hay fever, but symptoms of Covid-19 “can be like symptoms” of these allergies, colds or even the flu.
Less common symptoms that could indicate that you have Covid-19 include the usual loss of taste or smell, headache, nasal congestion and a sore throat. As well as that, dizziness, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting, skin rashes, conjunctivitis and muscle or joint pain are all symptoms of the virus.
More severe symptoms that could lead to hospitalisation include confusion, pain or pressure in the chest, fever, loss of appetite and shortness of breath.
