Are Wall Street Analysts Bullish on Molson Coors Stock?

With a market cap of $7.8 billion, Molson Coors Beverage Company (TAP) is a global beverage company with more than two centuries of brewing heritage and a portfolio of iconic brands including Coors Light, Miller Lite, Coors Banquet, Molson Canadian, and Carling. While rooted in beer, the company has expanded beyond the beer aisle into flavored beverages, spirits, and non-alcoholic products, supported by partner brands and a broad portfolio designed to serve diverse consumers and occasions.

Shares of the Golden, Colorado-based company have underperformed the broader market over the past 52 weeks. TAP stock has dropped 18.6% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has gained 20.2%. Moreover, shares of the company are down nearly 11% on a YTD basis, compared to SPX’s 13.2% rise.

Narrowing the focus, shares of Molson Coors have lagged behind the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLP) nearly 3% return over the past 52 weeks.

Molson Coors has underperformed due to weak consumer demand, declining beer volumes and shipments, and intense competition, particularly as consumers have become more price-sensitive and shifted toward smaller packs and value options. Higher costs for raw materials, logistics and manufacturing have pressured profitability, while the company’s reliance on pricing increases has not fully offset volume declines and broader macroeconomic uncertainty.

The stock rose 1.3% on Aug. 6 after the brewer beat Wall Street’s Q2 2026 estimates, with adjusted EPS of $1.58 and net sales of $3.1 billion. The results were supported by higher pricing and a favorable sales mix, particularly higher net pricing in the Americas, which helped offset a 5.4% decline in financial volumes, a 4.8% drop in brand volumes, and $40 million in additional Midwest Premium aluminum costs.

For the fiscal year ending in December 2026, analysts expect Molson Coors’s adjusted EPS to decline 11.3% year-over-year to $4.81. The company’s earnings surprise history is mixed. It beat the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing on another occasion.

Among the 20 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Hold.” That’s based on four “Strong Buy” ratings, one “Moderate Buy,” 12 “Holds,” one “Moderate Sell,” and two “Strong Sells.”

This configuration has remained unchanged over the past three months.

On Jul. 30, JPMorgan analyst Andrea Teixeira cut Molson Coors’ price target to $41 and maintained a “Neutral” rating.

The mean price target of $45.38 represents a 9.2% premium to TAP’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $61 suggests a 46.7% potential upside.
