While many people will be looking forward to staying in and enjoying a nice roast dinner on Christmas Day, there will be a few who may have to drive a long journey on the motorway.
However, Christmas can be a tumultuous time of year for a variety of services, including motorway services. Many may even be worried if there will be an opportunity to fill up their car with fuel while driving down the motorway.
Fortunately, it is unlikely you will find yourself stranded in the middle of the motorway on Christmas Day as the majority of forecourts will be readily available, regardless of which time you choose to travel. However, the same can't be said for food and drink services.

According to Moto, many forecourts and sites will be open 24/7 throughout the festive period, however, some brands will have individual closing and opening times. The firm said: "We have an obligation to provide a safe place to stop on the motorway network 365 days a year, 24 hours a day - even at Christmas.
"And we understand that many drivers are relying on us for loo breaks, refreshments, fuel and a safe place to pull over. So, well be here throughout the entire Christmas period to support all of your fabulous festive journeys, even on Christmas Day."
But, the company warns that services may be different from usual on Christmas Day. It adds: "However, if you do stop with us on December 25th, things will be a little different so we can allow as many of our wonderful colleagues as possible to spend the festivities with their loved ones."
The following services will be available at motorway rest points on Christmas Day, according to Moto:
- Forecourts
- WHSmiths
- Greggs
- Costa
- Costa drive-thru
- Chow
Opening times will vary for all food and drink services, full details for your desired motorway services can be found here.
