McDonald's, KFC, Subway and Greggs have all released details of their opening hours for Christmas Day.
Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year. If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday.
However, most retailers will be closed on Christmas Day so employees can celebrate the festive season with their family and friends.
McDonald's Christmas Day opening hours
Only a handful of McDonald's restaurants open on Christmas Day in the UK. A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “As a franchised business, it is at the discretion of each franchisee to decide on when their restaurants operate throughout the year, including over the festive period.
"These decisions will reflect the needs of local communities and crew, and cater for a cross-section of the UK workforce, especially those who may be working on Christmas day.”
You can refer to their restaurant locator to confirm if your local restaurant is open during the Christmas period and what times they are trading.
Greggs Christmas Day opening hours
Greggs stores in Merseyside will be closed on Christmas Day. Some will reopen on Boxing Day.
KFC Christmas Day opening hours
According to KFC, "a number" of their restaurants will be open on Christmas Day.
You can see if your KFC is one of them by clicking here. Deliveroo and Just Eat will not be delivering on Christmas Day but Uber Eats will be delivering in certain locations.
Subway Christmas Day opening hours
As all Subway restaurants are independently owned and operated, store opening times across the region will vary depending on the franchisee.
Some stores in Liverpool, such as the Bold Street store, will be closed on December 25. However, at the Whitechapel location, Subway will be open from 10am to 5pm.
