As property prices in Bristol centre soar, people have moved out to the suburbs on the edge of our city. And as workers set up homes in these towns, it's sparked the old debate of where Bristol's boundaries end.
Locals in Bradley Stoke are technically part of South Gloucestershire Council's remit, but many still have Bristol in their address. It's a similar story with Kingswood, where a Bristol Live survey found people living in this town defined themselves as South Glos residents rather than Bristolians.
The issue was raised on Reddit when one man posted: "Just moved to Bradley Stoke, can I still say I live in Bristol even though it’s in South Gloucestershire?"

Dozens of people replied, affirming the area was part of our city. One person wrote: "Definitely just say Bristol.
"Would avoid saying Bradley Stoke as you'll either get oh I used to live there it's really nice."
Another replied: "It’s Bristol, the South Glos claim on it is weird." A third wrote: "I lived in Sadley Broke for a few years. As far as I was concerned it was still Bristol. Especially as my nearest railway station had Bristol in its name."
But not all agreed, with one person writing: "I moved there in the 90s (when it was all fields… lol) but now live in Bemmy… I’ve never thought of Bradley Stoke as Bristol myself. It's South Glos, and it doesn’t feel much like Bristol. Bristol adjacent though, sure."
And it's a similar story for people living in Kingswood. One of our readers previously said: "We [people in Kingswood] live in Bristol. If you live in Weston-super-Mare you don’t say we live in North Somerset."
Another said: "I class it as Bristol but I pay council tax to South Gloucestershire! It has a Bristol postcode, so in my opinion, it's Bristol."
However, a survey of 114 of our Bristol Live readers found 72 per cent of respondents believe that Kingswood is in fact in South Gloucestershire, with 83 of the 114 who answered stating that they think Kingswood sits outside Bristol's boundaries.
