Arc Raiders update nerfs notorious Il Toro shotgun from basically every angle: pellet damage, fire rate, dispersion, reload time, and damage falloff

The Il Toro Shotgun in Arc Raiders.

Arc Raiders' new Patch 1.20.0 has finally freed the Il Toro shotgun from the swamp of controversy. Balance adjustments attempt to make sure the high-powered firearm now exists in the more reasonable land of contentment.

"This is an adjustment many of you requested," Arc Raiders developer Embark Studios writes in reference to Il Toro's changes in Patch Notes 1.20.0, posted on Steam March 17. "We have tuned the Il Toro to address its DPS and effectiveness at range, especially when combined with a choke."

Some Arc Raiders players previously considered Il Toro the only gun worth having in the PvPvE game, despite its relatively low, Uncommon rarity – though players were split on whether or not that needed fixing. One Reddit response in an incensed thread on "How has the Toro not been nerfed yet?" summarizes by saying, "It IS a shotgun afterall." And the Il Toro still is a shotgun after Embark's Patch 1.20.0 – the streets of Stella Montis might just feel a little safer.

Embark says about Il Toro, "We're also making some changes so it performs more like a weapon of its rarity (less versatile at lower upgrade levels and more dependent on upgrades and mods). Most notably, fire-rate and reload time have been reduced, which will make it more important to fully utilize positioning, cover, and timing to defeat your opponents."

The developer also disclaims, "We will of course continue to keep a close eye on this to see how it plays out in practice, and make additional adjustments when needed. Thank you for your feedback and patience!"

"Patches make me wiggle my toes," one player on Steam replies.

Arc Raiders devs spent 3 years fighting "on a daily basis" over whether it was "a battle royale," "a hero looter shooter," "a co-op Soul game," or "a co-op Shadow of the Colossus game."
