ARC Raiders is beginning to draw attention far beyond the games industry, with developer Embark Studios confirming it has received interest from Hollywood studios about potential TV or film adaptations.
“I can’t tell you how many companies have reached out to us, wanting to make a TV series/movie out of this IP. I mean, we don’t mind doing that. It’ll be fun, but it needs to be done in the right way. I hope that we’ll (be able to) do that. I think the IP fits quite well with something like that,” Patrick Söderlund, Embark Studios’ CEO, said in an interview with GamesBeat.

Embark has also confirmed in the interview that in-engine cinematics are coming to ARC Raiders, designed to showcase the game’s lore using its own technology. According to the studio, these cinematics can be produced “relatively quickly”, allowing the developers to expand the narrative without slowing down core development.
The hit multiplayer shooter is set in a future Earth devastated by the ARC, towering mechanized threats that have driven humanity underground. Players step into the role of Raiders, venturing back to the surface to scavenge resources, battle hostile machines, and survive tense encounters with other players. Its blend of post-apocalyptic storytelling and striking sci-fi enemy designs has positioned the game as a strong candidate for transmedia expansion.
The developers emphasized that any adaptation would need to be handled carefully. This cautious approach mirrors a broader shift in game-to-screen adaptations. Recent successes, such as Arcane or Fallout, have shown that faithful adaptations can resonate with both existing fans and wider audiences, while poorly handled projects risk alienating both. The developer appears keenly aware of this balance.
Hollywood’s growing interest in ARC Raiders highlights the game’s strong premise and visual identity, especially after its strong reception by the players and critics. Whether that interest eventually turns into a TV show or film remains to be seen, but it is clear that Embark is thinking long-term about the franchise’s future.
As ARC Raiders continues to retain a strong player base, surpassing 300,000 players daily according to SteamDB, Embark appears well-positioned to keep expanding the universe. Fans can expect further updates on potential adaptation plans to follow, as the developer looks for the right opportunities to bring the game’s universe to life beyond the title itself.
