Apple has revealed how a flexible graphite pipe running through the iPhone Duo's hinge helps manage heat in its first foldable smartphone. The component transfers heat between the device's two halves, increasing the surface area available for dissipation and helping address the thermal challenges of a slim, folding design.
The hinge component works alongside a custom vapour chamber and a redesigned A20 Pro chip package. Apple claims the iPhone Duo can deliver up to 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro, although independent testing will be needed to establish how well the system performs under prolonged heavy workloads.
