Apple pledges to release fix for iPhone 14 'shaking' rear camera glitch

The long-awaited iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have finally hit the shelves but some early users are reporting a strange issue blighting some models. It appears the rear camera's main lens shakes when photos or videos are taken in various apps including Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram.

Apple has announced in a statement it is working on a fix for the bug, and will be releasing a software update to cure the problem. However, it is not clear how many handsets are affected by the glitch or what is causing it, according to MailOnline.

The problem does not appear to affect the iPhone's built-in Camera app, but some users have posted their concerns on social media. One user wrote: "I've been experiencing my camera shaking uncontrollably whenever I open Snapchat or use the camera for Instagram, however, I don't run into any issues when I use the regular camera app."

Another added: "My iPhone 14 Pro just arrived and when I opened Snapchat, the camera was shaking a lot and made a pretty strange mechanical noise."

Videos posted on social media show the user opening up the camera function within a third-party app on the iPhone 14 Pro and seeing a blurred image with the device's main lens vibrating and rattling. Some experts have claimed it may be a software bug affecting the device's optical image stabilisation.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reported: "Apple has identified a fix for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max camera shake issue and a software update will be released next week.'"

If iPhone 14 Pro customers are fearful of possible damage to the rear camera system, they should avoid opening the camera in third-party apps until the matter is resolved.

Four variations of the iPhone 14 were revealed earlier this month after months of waiting. These were the standard iPhone 14 model, the iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The standard model retails for £849 and comes with a 6.1-inch screen, while the Plus costs £949 and has a 6.7-inch screen. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen and costs £1,099, while Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen and costs £1,199.
