Kelley Heyer, the genius behind the viral “Apple” dance, accidentally got herself involved in internet beef at Charli xcx‘s Sweat Tour in New York City.
As Charli kicked off her performance of the TikTok famous tune “Apple”, Kelley was ready to show off her iconic moves on the “Apple” Cam. But just as she was about to have her moment, an overly enthusiastic fan jumped into the frame, turning her solo dance moment into a sort of duet.
For those not in the know, the Sweat Tour is Charli xcx’s and Troye Sivan‘s joint tour which has seen multiple iconic guests pop in including Lorde and Addison Rae. So, yes I would sell my soul to get ticket, if you even care. And no, we don’t believe Sweat is coming to Australia… but Troye Sivan is touring and you can win tickets here.
At each concert, there’s a special “Apple” Cam capturing audience members busting out the “Apple” dance.
When Kelley attended the NYC show, it was only fitting that she graced the “Apple” Cam. However, when the video of her dancing went online, the internet noticed another girly running into the camera’s frame to do the dance with her, at one point even grabbing Kelley’s hand.
Although Kelley seemed unphased by the other dancer, the internet quickly came to Kelley’s defence and for this other girl’s throat.
“Kelley’s better than me bc I would’ve thrown hands right there on camera,” someone on X commented.
Another said, “How do people lack this much social etiquette and awareness? How do you not notice she’s performing? Why would you touch her? Like, seriously what is wrong with you people?”
The internet got pretty nasty, spewing fatphobic comments and attempting to dox the dancer.
However, Kelley is not standing for any of the hate being spewed towards the mystery woman, and took to her TikTok to set the record straight.
“I told her that it was totally fine. I understand. …she just got really excited. We worked it out in the remix. It’s fine. Do not fucking dox her,” Kelley said.
She went on to explain that she didn’t know who the girl was and that “they found each other on socials” later, where “she apologised so much”.
According to Kelley, the woman didn’t mean any harm — she was simply swept away by the concert atmosphere. Kelley even apologised for posting the video on her account without realising the possible implications on the mystery girl.
“I don’t want that girl’s experience of the Sweat Tour to be stained or soured because of comments that you guys are leaving,” Kelley urged.
“All of you can have your own opinions. I’m just asking you guys to have a little bit of grace.”
Honestly, an icon of brat summer (and beyond).
