Apple is moving swiftly to integrate artificial intelligence into its virtual assistant Siri, with the release of a software update that brings a host of new features to coincide with the launch of the latest iPhone models.

The free iOS 18.1 update, which was made available two weeks earlier than initially projected, introduces the first set of AI capabilities under Apple's 'Apple Intelligence' suite. This move aligns with the company's strategy to position AI as a key selling point for the iPhone 16 models hitting stores.

All iPhone 16 models, priced between $800 and $1,200, are now equipped with a specialized processor to power the AI technology. Apple aims to differentiate its AI offering, emphasizing the conversational, versatile, and colorful enhancements that Siri will undergo with this update.

Initially available in U.S. English, the AI features will expand to other English-speaking regions in December, with plans for further language and country rollouts in the coming year.

With the iOS 18.1 upgrade, Siri is expected to be more adept at handling tasks, offering improved conversational abilities and a visually enhanced response interface. The update also introduces AI-driven writing and proofreading tools, content summarization, photo editing capabilities, and enhanced photo search functionalities.

Future updates are set to introduce additional AI functionalities, including customized emoji creation, advanced image generation, and integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT. These features will further enhance the user experience and utility of Apple's AI suite.

While the AI features are currently exclusive to the iPhone 16 models, compatibility will extend to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max after updating to iOS 18. This update will also enable spatial video recording on the iPhone 15 Pro models, compatible with Apple's Vision Pro headset.

Investors are optimistic about the potential of Apple's AI strategy to drive sales growth, reflected in a 15% increase in the company's stock price since the AI preview in June. Analysts anticipate that this momentum could propel Apple's market value above $4 trillion within the next year.

Overall, Apple's accelerated rollout of AI features underscores its commitment to innovation and enhancing user experiences across its product lineup.
