Apparently, Mayor Eric Adams plans to end his term on another eyebrow-raising note

New York City Mayor Eric Adams offered an unusual bit of advice for residents trying to stay warm during the heavy snowstorm that swept through the city this week. After more than four inches of snow blanketed New York on Friday, Adams spoke with the media about how people should handle the winter weather.

When asked whether New Yorkers should head outside to enjoy the snow or stay indoors, Adams didn’t hesitate. He encouraged people to remain at home and jokingly said it was a good day for “making babies,” a comment that quickly caught attention. “Stay home. This is a good baby-making day, you know. Enjoy the stay home,” he said, according to HuffPost

The mayor then doubled down on the lighthearted tone by referencing a phrase his son often uses, telling residents they could “just do Netflix and chill” while waiting out the storm. Despite the humor, Adams also took a moment to acknowledge the serious work happening behind the scenes. He thanked the city’s roughly 2,700 sanitation workers, many of whom were pulling 12-hour shifts to plow streets, clear sidewalks, and keep New York safe during the snowfall.

The mayor expects to see results from his advice

The news anchor, Pedro Rivera, laughed and asked Adams if this means New York should expect a baby boom when summer arrives. Adams smiled and said yes, adding that the city wants to improve its population numbers.

Adams is known for making unusual comments and has faced several scandals during his time as mayor. His term will end on January 1, 2026, when Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist, takes over as the new mayor. Mamdani himself recently made headlines when he couldn’t believe Trump’s White House focus.

Throughout his time in office, Adams has made many memorable statements. One of his most famous quotes is when he said all his haters become his waiters when he sits at the table of success. He also frequently says that New York is the capital of America, filling in different countries each time he uses the phrase.

His latest comment about baby-making during the snowstorm has now joined his list of eyebrow-raising moments as mayor. While Adams has been criticized for his leadership style, he’s not alone in drawing controversy. Trump once called London’s mayor terrible and demanded he skip a state banquet.
