Brendan Fevola Confirms Rumour That An I’m A Celeb All-Star Season Was Being Planned For 2027

I'm A Celeb

Fans and celebs are still reeling from the news that Network Ten has pulled the plug on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and now, season two winner Brendan Fevola has confirmed an all-star season was indeed in the works prior to the show’s untimely demise.

After years of speculation, it was recently rumoured that an all-star season was being discussed, to mirror the UK’s recent all-star season.

“The numbers have been huge! Completely exceeded expectations,” a production insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV prior to the show’s axing. “Australia has definitely taken notice, and now it’s about how quickly they can make their own version happen.”

It was just a rumour at the time, but the footy star has now confirmed it to be legit.

“So Channel Ten are no longer doing I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, which is strange because it rates really well but that’s gone!” he said on his radio show The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick.

“But I actually was contacted earlier in the year to do I’m A Celeb for next year… an all-star version with the winners. There’s been 12 seasons now, so all the winners would go back in. They’ve just done that in the UK, and they got four times the audience, which is huge ratings.”

Fevola went on to say that he turned it down due to scheduling conflicts with his radio work.

“I said no because I’ve got to work and this is my priority. They reckon Channel Seven or Channel Nine will take it. It might be onto another station… the ITV people rang so I assume it’s still going ahead.”

Who would appear on an All-Stars version of I’m A Celebrity?

Filmed in South Africa and stacked with returning fan faves (including two former winners), the series pulled massive numbers for ITV, reportedly hitting around four million viewers per episode and outperforming heavyweights like Coronation Street. So yeah, people noticed.

While the show’s producers had previously expressed concerns about an all-stars series, fearing that the returning contestants wouldn’t keep the show fresh, the UK version proved the opposite.

“There was concern they’d just be impersonating themselves or trying to recreate old moments,” the source explained. “These celebs came back with more to give. They’re more self-aware, more open, and viewers are loving it.”

As for the Australian version, producers were sitting on a casting goldmine with over 170 previous contestants to choose from.

“There are so many personalities to pull from,” the source said. “People who want redemption, people with unfinished business. It’s all there.”

The source claimed Fevola was high on the producers’ wish list, alongside fan favourites who came so close to winning the first time around. Season seven champ Abbie Chatfield previously said on her podcast, It’s A Lot, that she would be keen to re-enter the jungle alongside social media star Max Balegde.

Not everyone was keen to go back, though. Early seasons of the Aussie version were notoriously brutal, including long filming schedules, intense conditions, and full jungle chaos, and some former contestants are reportedly still traumatised.

“There are definitely a few who’ve said ‘never again’,” the insider shared, including season one power duo Chrissie Swan and Joel Creasey.

The source added that filming was expected to happen later this year, with a premiere pencilled in for April 2027.

“It’s very real,” the source shared. “This isn’t just an idea anymore. It’s something they’re actively working towards.”

To quote Adele: “We could’ve had it all.”

Network Ten confirmed the show’s cancellation in a statement on Friday:

“We have made the decision to rest I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2027 as we focus on offering our audience a range of content on all platforms,” a Ten spokesperson said. “We look forward to working with [current hosts] Julia Morris and Robert Irwin on other projects.”
