Dramatic footage shows the sky above a road coloured orange from out of control wildfire in Texas with fire crews battling flames in an 800 acre area.
Evacuations have been ordered with yet more apocalyptic scenes from the west of the United States where fires have been raging in recent weeks due to high temperatures and drought.
Firefighters could be seen on a road as massive flames blow over on the border between Blanco and Hays Counties due to a vegetation fire.
And there is worry among the public as the fire is spreading with the majority out of control.
People evacuated from their homes are being sheltered at Blanco Methodist Church.
Blanco County Emergency Management posted on Facebook : “Vegetation fire alert.
“Multiple fire departments from Blanco and Hays Counties are on scene of a large vegetation fire on FM 165 in the area of Las Colinas Dr. The fire is currently estimated at 250 acres by air assets on scene.
“Evacuations have been requested in the area as the fire continues to move North/Northwest towards US-290. A shelter has been opened at the Blanco Methodist Church.
“More information to follow.”
Since then updates from Texas A&M Forest Service has said that the fire is covering 800 acres with 30% contained.
People have taken to Facebook desperate for information about the spread of the fire and also to offer help.
With plenty of livestock in the area, people are offering help in transporting animals or a location to look after them.
One person wrote: “We’re north of Blanco between Blanco and Johnson city on the west side of 281. Our fences aren’t perfect but we could help out with livestock, should anyone need it.”
Another wrote: "Updates appreciated, family at Rollin N Ranch Road, 6 mi west on 165 of Los Colinas Road. In laws here in North Texas, husbands brother there with the animals.”
While a person replied: "Fire is moving north northwest toward 290 and away from Rollin N."
Texas A&M Forest Service tweeted: "The #SmokeRiderFire in Hays County is an estimated 600 acres and 10% contained. Aviation and ground crews continue to work on slowing progression and building/securing containment lines.
It late wrote: "The #SmokeRiderFire in Hays County is an estimated 800 acres and 30% contained. Fire activity has significantly diminished."
