Apex Legends will keep going for ’10 to 15 years,’ says Respawn

Respawn Entertainment wants to support Apex Legends for “10, 15 years” – and hopefully well beyond that.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Respawn Entertainment has opened a third studio in Madison, Wisconsin, that’ll assist with the ongoing support of Apex Legends. Company co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella explained that the extra helping hand is important to keep updates coming at a steady pace.

“There are some things we work on that take more than two years to get from beginning to end in the game,” Zampella said. “For example, a Legend takes us about a year to a year and a half to get into the game. So we’re working on things well in advance.”

Respawn also works on other massive games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which comes out next month – so the various teams are clearly busy.

In the past, Zampella has been adamant about prioritizing the health and safety of Repsawn’s employees – it seems the new studio will help keep Apex Legends content coming at a steady pace without making staff work long hours.

“Team health is absolutely a top priority for us because we’re in this for the long haul,” Zampella continues. “We believe in Apex as a franchise that’s going to be around for 10, 15 years or more, and we’re excited to make that happen. In order to do that, we can’t just put everything all upfront, burn ourselves out and not be ready to do that in the long haul.”

Season 16 of Apex Legends came out recently and added several much-requested features.
