A historic County Durham hall has been acquired by leisure firm The Apartment Group to join its luxury wedding venue portfolio.
Newcastle based The Apartment Group – which owns and operates a number of hotels, bars and restaurants across the region – has acquired the Grade II star listed Lartington Hall near Barnard Castle for an undisclosed sum and is poised to invest around £1m in upgrading the facilities at the 17th century property.
The company will create around 30 new jobs at the venue, which was previously in private ownership and had been closed for the last two years as a result of the impact of the pandemic. It’s the second wedding venue to be acquired by The Apartment Group this year, following the purchase of the Croft Hotel at Croft-on-Tees in January, amid plans to expand further, with further acquisitions planned for Yorkshire and along the M62 corridor.
