Apartment above Harvey Nichols on market for £1500 a month now dangeous cladding is fixed

Work to remove combustible cladding in a luxury Bristol high-rise has finally been completed more than three years after owner Bristol Alliance submitted a planning application for it to be replaced in August 2019 - and approved by Bristol City Council three months later.

The Eclipse Tower, situated above Harvey Nichols in Cabot Circus, was found to have similar cladding to a Grenfell block in London which went up in flames in June 2017 and prompted a major inquiry after 72 people were killed in the inferno. Since then, work to remove flammable cladding on exterior tower blocks around the country has been taking place to avoid the same tragedy.

Now, in a Rightmove advert, a one-bedroom city apartment with a private walk-out balcony has hit the market with a monthly rent of £1,500. The marketing description stated: “The building has just undergone extensive work and is now fully compliant with the latest EWS1/cladding regulations.”

Eclipse is “ideally positioned” within the city with Cabot Circus shopping and food courts, the historic Harbourside and in close proximity to Bristol Temple Meads train station. The listing further states that the 15-storey block includes two lifts, 24-hour security and a daytime concierge.

Adding: “A truly hassle-free and very safe investment opportunity that provides an attractive return of circa 6.4%.”
