TIRUPATI: Special chief secretary to Andhra Pradesh govt and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams executive officer (EO) Dr KS Jawahar Reddy on Sunday said that the Tata cancer hospital, slated to be inaugurated in May, and Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS ) will be transformed as regional cancer care centres to provide affordable world-class treatment to the needy.
Accompanied by TTD CVSO Gopinath Jatti, Reddy inspected the oncology department at SVIMS and Tata cancer hospital in Tirupati.
The state govt directed the TTD to transform SVIMS and Tata cancer hospital into world-class cancer care centres which could cater to the medical needs of this entire region.
According to the state govt's decision, renowned oncologist Dr Dattatreya Nori also inspected these two hospitals in Tirupati recently and held a series of meetings with the doctors as well as with the TTD management.
The TTD EO added that the medical infrastructure at the oncology department at SVIMS will soon be upgraded and additional doctors and staff will also be recruited.
Meanwhile, he also held a review on the progress of the SV manuscripts project with officials.
TTD JEOs Sada Bhargavi, Veerabrahmam and other officials were also present.
