India is currently experiencing unprecedented heatwaves, with both Delhi and Nagpur registering record-breaking temperatures that have raised significant concerns across the nation. Just days after Delhi's scorching 52.9 degrees Celsius, Nagpur has now reported temperatures soaring past the 50-degree mark.
If reports are to go by, on Thursday, Nagpur recorded a staggering 56 degrees Celsius. This record temperature was observed at two of the four Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) set up by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Nagpur. The Nagpur AWS, located in the 24-hectare open agriculture field in Ramdaspeth, registered the highest temperature at 56 degrees Celsius. The AWS in Sonegaon also recorded an alarming 54 degrees Celsius.
