Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is set to visit Hanoi at the invitation of Vietnamese leader To Lam, reaffirming the close ties between Thailand and Vietnam.
The June 8-9 visit is also expected to advance cooperation on economic development and the prevention of transnational crime.
Government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said Mr Anutin informed the cabinet of the successful official visit by Mr To Lam to Thailand last Thursday, during which both sides held extensive discussions on forging stronger bilateral relations. The talks were held in a positive atmosphere, with both countries recognised as key members of the Asean community.
Following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the two sides agreed to target bilateral trade of US$25 billion, up from about US$24 billion, and to broaden cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and food security.
