Antrim and Newtownabbey NI Council Election results in full

After a nail-biting count at the Valley Leisure Centre, the full list of councillors returned to serve in Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for the next four years is complete.

With 68 candidates battling it out for 40 seats, there have been some shifts in the benches at the council's Mossley Mill headquarters.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has a population of 145,661, making it one of the smallest in Northern Ireland.

With an eligible electorate of 106,122 and a turnout of 50.92%, there were some major changes as Sinn Féin gained ground and a number of high profile candidates lost their seats.

In the Airport DEA, the SDLP's Thomas Burns lost the seat he gained when his father Bobby stepped down in 1997, having held the seat since 1981.

Elsewhere, the party also lost Noreen McClelland in Glengormley Urban and Ryan Wilson in Dunsilly.

Alliance missed out on a second seat in the Antrim DEA due to a misbalanced vote bringing in 1487 first preference votes with the bulk of those going to sitting councillor Neil Kelly.

The UUP lost sitting councillor Jim Montgomery in Antrim DEA alongside Norrie Ramsay in Ballyclare to 18 year-old Lewis Boyle of Alliance who is currently sitting his A-Levels.

Here is a list of those elected to serve on the council for the next term:
