Antony has discussed his relationship with Erik ten Hag as he admitted his sadness at Manchester United's current situation.
Reports in the Netherlands on Friday claimed the 22-year-old did not take part in training with his current club despite being at the Ajax complex. De Telegraaf claimed the Reds had put in an €80m bid for the Brazilian which was rejected by the Amsterdam club on Thursday.
Ten Hag is a big fan of Antony having managed him at Ajax, and earmarked the wide forward as a possible summer signing upon his arrival at United.

United shelved a move for Antony several weeks ago over Ajax's lofty asking price for the forward, but speculation surrounding his future is beginning to gather pace again.
Speaking with De Telegraaf, Antony explained his fondness for the United manager and gave his thoughts on the Reds' start to the season.
"Erik has been super important to me," Antony said. "I am grateful to him and wish him all the best. I will always cheer for Erik after working so closely together.
"I have not been able to celebrate or cheer for him as he got no points yet. I couldn't until now anyway and that makes me sad. But knowing Erik, I am convinced that he will turn the tide soon. Manchester United will improve at his hand. At his previous clubs he has proven that his method works."
