Antonio Conte: Tottenham manager will stay at the club after Fabio Paratici talks ahead of ambitious summer

Antonio Conte will remain as Tottenham head coach following talks with the club’s managing director Fabio Paratici in Italy on Friday.

Conte repeatedly refused to guarantee he would honour the final year of his contract during the season, but has decided he is happy to stay in the job after positive talks with Paratici.

The 52-year-old returned to Italy for a family holiday immediately after Spurs clinched a return to the Champions League against Norwich on Sunday and Paratici flew out to Turin to meet him in the city where the pair worked together at Juventus.

They discussed the summer transfer window ahead, with Inter Milan’s Andrea Bastoni thought to be top of Conte’s list of targets and the head coach eyeing up to six new players.

He has demanded the club spend "big money" on "important players" and Paratici is understood to have given Conte assurances that Spurs will make concessions for his desire to sign experienced winners, despite chairman Daniel Levy’s historic preference for signings youngsters with sell-on value.

The club have been boosted by a £150milllion injection from owners ENIC this week, with Conte set to be given the majority as well as money from sales.

The former Inter Milan coach has been living out of a hotel since joining Spurs in early November, with his wife and teenage daughter remaining in Italy, but he is thought to be enjoying life in north London and happy with the club’s plans.

As well as incomings, the pair discussed outgoings, with a number of squad players now waiting to learn their fates.
