Antonio Conte told Tottenham already have their own Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne

A Harry Kane-inspired Tottenham piled more pressure on Everton with an emphatic 5-0 victory in north London on Monday night.

It left the Toffees sitting just one point above the drop zone and moved Spurs to within three of the Champions League places as the season moves into its closing stages.

Kane found the net twice during the clash, once with a composed finish and again with a superb left-footed volley, as Son Heung-min, Sergio Reguillon and a Michael Keane own goal rounded off the scoring.

But it was the England captain who was a magnet for praise after full time, particularly in the Sky Sports studio where he was even compared to Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.

"You look at the type of system and Conte has always played that with three at the back," Jamie Carragher said in his analysis of the game on Monday Night Football.

"They probably still want to improve those defenders but, Harry Kane in the amount of years I have been working for Sky, he has been one of three players that have stood out for me alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.

"He has not won a trophy and people sometimes ridicule him, but what he has done for Tottenham and made them one of the top teams.

"I think it is a natural progression for every striker to drop deep and I don’t think Harry Kane has that pace like he had under Pochettino.

"Very rarely do you see a world-class striker become a world-class playmaker, and I think Harry Kane is as good as Kevin De Bruyne on the ball. He has been one of the best Premier League players."

Following weeks of speculation in the summer and a desire to leave for Manchester City, Kane suffered a slow start to the 2021-22 campaign.

But those two strikes against Everton brought the 28-year-old's tally for the season to 20 in all competitions and ten in the Premier League.
