Peter Crouch believes the biggest change at Tottenham since Antonio Conte took over has been the defensive aspect of the side's game.
The Italian coach took over at the start of November after Nuno Espirito Santo was relieved of his duties after Spurs' poor run of form across all competitions.
Since Conte has taken over, Tottenham have stabilised their defensive line somewhat - something that has been typical of the Italian manager's style of play over the years.
Now, when asked about how Conte is doing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, former Spurs striker Crouch was very complimentary of the new manager.
"Defensively it has been a lot better," Crouch explained on BT Sport's coverage of Tottenham's clash with Leicester City.
"Results are the most important thing and he has not lost in the Premier League this season but there have been times where it has been disappointing in the Europa Conference League, but it has been much better.
"I think there is a clear plan, under Nuno you couldn’t see what he was trying to achieve but since Conte's come in, you can see with the running stats, you can see there is a clear plan and a clear shape and there seems to be a direction which is all Spurs fans wanted."
The next step in Tottenham's progression under Conte could be strengthening his squad, something he has not hidden his desire to do when asked about it.
However, the Spurs boss explained how the January transfer window presents a unique challenge and how difficult it can be.
Speaking earlier in the week, Conte said: "I know that the transfer window in January is always very difficult and it is more simple when you start the season to buy important players.
"In January it is not easy, but at the same time we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it's not the best opportunity, but we need to do something.
"Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that are in a situation where we have to try to implement the squad because the squad is not so big."
