Antonio Conte makes final Tottenham penalty taker call in Son Heung-min and Mohamed Salah battle

Antonio Conte has indicated that Son Heung-min won't be on Tottenham penalty duty on Sunday at Norwich City despite the attacker fighting it out with Mohamed Salah for the Premier League Golden Boot award. Looking like the Liverpool man was going to runaway with the gong only a couple of months ago, Son has been in sensational form for Spurs of late with ten goals in his last nine league games.

Now on 21 for the season and one behind Salah going into the final day, Son will be confident of adding to his tally with Tottenham at Norwich City. Liverpool, on the other hand, face Wolves at Anfield in a game which could potentially see them lift the league title.

Son has taken three penalties for the team in the past in Harry Kane's absence but Conte has stated that Tottenham's No.10 will be the man in possession of the ball if they are awarded a penalty even though Son is in a decent position to pip Salah to the award.

"Before there is the interest of the team and Harry Kane is our player who has to kick. If there is this opportunity Kane has to kick," said Conte in his pre-match press conference. "Then I am pleased for Sonny, he deserves to stay in this position, but don’t forget the first interest is the target of the team not personal target, the personal target comes later.

"If we are good to match both situations I am the first to be happy, but I repeat, I know Sonny thinks my way because he is a really good guy, he is a smart person, a very intelligent person. I am the first person to be happy to have a player in my team win the Golden Boot, I am the first. But if you ask me to pick one of these two, you know which is my answer. I also know Sonny’s answer."

There is the possibility that Son will be the only one of the two on the pitch this weekend amid concerns over Salah's fitness after limping off with a groin injury in last Saturday's FA Cup final. Not involved at all earlier in the week at Southampton, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made it clear he won't be taking any risks with the Reds having a Champions League final clash against Real Madrid to come the following weekend.

"Looks all good. What we do with them [the three injured players] for the weekend, I have no idea," revealed the German, as reported by the Liverpool Echo. "We actually understand 100% the goalscoring battle with Son Heung-min, but there's no chance we take any risk. Mo doesn't want to take any risks, I've no doubt about that."

He added: "It looks good and the boys have made steps, but we will see. My preferred solution is they would play at the weekend for rhythm reasons, or at least be on the bench so we could bring them on, but if not then we take it from there. I cannot say 100%."
