Antonio Conte has already been told how 'tremendous' Tottenham ace can hurt Manchester United

Tottenham travel to the North West this weekend to face Manchester United in a key clash in the race for the top four.

A 5-0 hammering against Everton on Monday night will no doubt have filled Antonio Conte's troops with confidence while United's 4-1 defeat to Manchester City will have done quite the opposite to Ralf Rangnick's men.

It was the reverse fixture that proved the final act of Nuno Espirito Santo's brief tenure as Tottenham manager and now Conte has the chance to show just how much he has improved the Lilywhites.

Harry Kane stole many of the headlines on Monday night with one cool finish and an exceptional volley but, with two assists to his name, Matt Doherty also caught the eye.

Since making the move from Wolves in the summer of 2020, Doherty has struggled to assert himself under three different managers but Conte appears to be getting the best from him.

Former manager Tim Sherwood was also eager to praise the Irishman.

“The next goal (Kane’s second) was just incredible,” said Sherwood told Premier League productions while analysing the game.

“An incredible finish from the best striker in the Premier League, at the moment. He’s had a bit of a barren spell.

"For Doherty, really pleased for him as well, that’s a tremendous Michael Carrick-like ball. Over the top and he just lets it drop onto his left foot. The timing is fantastic.”

Doherty's rich vein of form could be a very useful weapon against Manchester United tomorrow evening and Wolves have already demonstrated their value against the Red Devils.

A Joao Moutinho strike earned them their first win at Old Trafford back in January and in his post-match interview, manager Bruno Lage admitted that it was a tactic to target the space left by full-backs Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

"The most important thing for us is to see where the full-backs are, which position they start in," the Portuguese told Sky Sports.

"[It is important] to find the spaces. When they're defending or attacking, where they are... In the first half, the space was outside. That's why Semedo and Marcal had a lot of chances, a lot of the ball, and the boys found those spaces.

"The players understood the plan and I think we deserved the three points."

With Tottenham employing a similar wing-back system to Wolves, it is a weakness Conte would be wise to target.
