Tottenham star Rodrigo Bentancur is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL injury in the Premier League defeat to Leicester. The midfielder came off worse in a clash with Nampalys Mendy and immediately fell to the ground in severe pain.
Just days after Spurs were dealt a significant injury blow with Yves Bissouma undergoing surgery on a stress fracture to his ankle, the worst for Bentancur was feared after oxygen was brought onto the pitch with Eric Dier cradling his stricken teammate's head in his hands.
A stretcher came onto the pitch, but Bentancur was able to leave the pitch of his own free will with Pape Matar Sarr coming on to replace him. The midfielder shared some brief words with Antonio Conte, before trudging straight down the tunnel.

After the game, Cristian Stellini spoke about Bentancur's injury. "He feels pain at the moment," he said. "We know only this but he can walk so it's important to feel that he came back to the bench with his leg [injury] and we hope that we can check in a few days that Rodrigo can feel better and he play soon."
Bissouma's injury and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's Champions League suspension meant Bentancur was going to be partnered with either Oliver Skipp or Sarr in Milan. However, that plan is no longer going to be executed with Bentancur's injury timeline recovery now being revealed.
As first reported by Uruguayan journalist @Buysan on Twitter, the 25-year-old will be out for six months which means his 2022/23 season is over. Fabrizio Romano then confirmed he will be out for 6/7 months with an ACL injury.
Bentancur now joins Bissouma, Hugo Lloris and Ryan Sessegnon on the injury list with Conte losing three key first-team players in less than a week.
