In-form Antonio Colak has been declared the best player in Scotland so far this season by Alex Rae after firing his way to the top of the Premiership scoring charts.
The Croat continued his scoring start to life at Ibrox with a double against St Mirren as Gio van Bronckhorst's men ramped up the pressure on league leaders Celtic during the 4-0 win. These latest strikes take Colak’s season total to 13 in 16 matches, having netted 10 goals in nine Scottish Premiership appearances and three in ten Champions League outings with vital strikers in the qualifiers.
Colak has now scored a brace in his last three league outings as he battles to be the first choice frontman at Ibrox ahead of talisman Alfredo Morelos. However, Rae doesn't reckon he is just the best striker at Rangers just now but the best player in the Scottish Premiership, ahead of the likes of Jota and Kyogo Furuhahshi who have enjoyed scintillating starts to the league season with the Scottish champions.
Speaking to BoyleSports Champions League betting, Rae said: "Rangers' recent form has been decent. They're free-scoring and have picked up a couple of good results against decent opposition. Motherwell are having a good season and Tynecastle is never an easy place to go. They've also got Antonio Colak who is one of the standout players in Scotland right now. He's hit the ground running and has produced a remarkable turnaround.
"It'll be very interesting to see who leads the line on Wednesday night because Alfredo Morelos started the last couple of games against Napoli and Liverpool but I don't think he's fully fit and Colak's confidence will be sky-high."
