Anticipation is building ahead of Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities’ seasonal showpiece this weekend – the Floodlit Tattoo.
The Saturday evening spectacular promises a packed programme of entertainment with an international flavour.
The Calgary Burns Singers have come all the way from Canada for the event which traditionally attracts several thousand spectators.
The ensemble – which has strong Scottish roots – perform in kilts and distinctive white stetsons wherever they go.
Currently on a tour of Scotland, the group will also sing at Kirkcudbright’s weekly Scottish Night tonight and at Kirkcudbright Parish Church on Sunday.
Calgary Burns Singers have a strong tie to Kirkcudbright – musical director Henry Cairney is the current president of the Robert Burns World Federation and a friend of Summer Festivities director and former RBWF President Ian McIntyre.
Mr McIntyre said: “We are delighted to pull off such a coup in attracting the Calgary Burns Singers to our annual floodlight Tattoo in Kirkcudbright to provide an international presence.”
Also in Saturday night’s line-up will be Kirkcudbright and District Pipe Band, RAF Waddington Pipe Band, Isle of Cumbrae Pipe band, Doon and Dunaskin Brass Band and Annan Town Band.
In addition to the fantastic programme of musical entertainment Summer Festivities organisers said they were “delighted” to welcome Steve Colley back to Kirkcudbright.
The superstar motorcycle stuntman is a three-time world champion and a born entertainer with some jaw-dropping skills in his locker.
A spectacular fireworks display will light up the sky over the town to round off what promises to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

The fun will continue on Sunday with a classic car rally in Harbour Square.
It will take place from 9.30am to 4pm with around 200 cars expected to take part.
Sunday also sees the monthly farmers market as well as a vintage fair, with the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright’s popular duck race due to take place at 12 noon.
