Anthony Martial responds to claims of a rift between Cristiano Ronaldo and Man United teammates

Anthony Martial has rubbished rumours of a divide between Cristiano Ronaldo and his Manchester United teammates.

Reports of unrest in the Old Trafford dressing room have followed United throughout the season, with friction between some players seen as a factor behind United’s poor performances. Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has been unable to quell those rumours, with more reports emerging since his arrival.

Ronaldo has found himself at the heart of many of the dressing room spat rumours. Various reports have suggested that players have fallen out with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, including captain Harry Maguire.

Rangnick has also had his frustrations with the Portuguese star, with the Manchester Evening News reporting earlier this year that the German had been losing patience with his talisman. The 37-year-old’s trip to Portugal during the Manchester derby - which he missed through injury - also fuelled speculation he had fallen out with his manager.

But Martial, who left United in January to join Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season, has refuted suggestions of any disagreements with Ronaldo. The Frenchman insists Ronaldo has not caused any problems in the United camp.

"Cristiano is a top professional, one of the best in the history of the game. We all love him," Martial told Spanish outlet AS. "There are things that are said in the media that are not true. I was in that dressing room and I know what happened."

Despite Martial’s comments, there remains some doubt over Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford. The forward still has over a year left on his contract with United, but a dismal first season back and a struggle to qualify for next season’s Champions League has led to suggestions he could be on the move in the summer.
