Anthony Martial makes his thoughts on Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag perfectly clear

Anthony Martial has paid tribute to Erik ten Hag's attention to detail as he continues to get used to life under the Manchester United boss.

Ten Hag is the fifth manager Martial has played under at Old Trafford, having signed for the club in 2015 at the start of what became Louis van Gaal's final season.

Jose Mourinho took over from the Dutchman, and Martial had an up and down time under the tutelage of the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss as he often struggled for game-time.

Mourinho was eventually replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, under whom Martial had his best season at United when he scored 23 goals in all competitions in 2019-20.

Solskjaer failed to prove he had what it takes to lead United to success though, and after he was sacked last November he was replaced on an interim basis by Ralf Rangnick, under whom Martial only played twice before a loan move to Sevilla.

Many expected he wouldn't play for United again after that, but after returning to the club he has featured five times under Ten Hag, scoring three goals amid some injury issues which have dogged his campaign.

Despite those, the 26-year-old is pleased with what he's seen from the former Ajax manager.

"He's a very good manager and a very meticulous person, who pays attention to all the details," Martial said in an interview with the Spanish version of United's official website.

"He wants us to produce good football with a desire to press for the loss of the ball. It's perfect for me, for my style of play."

Ten Hag has generally improved United's fortunes on the pitch, with the Red Devils currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table with 23 points from 13 games, as well as advancing in the Europa League where they face a mouthwatering clash with Barcelona.

Martial is pleased with the impact Ten Hag has had on the club, and praised the style of football the manager has implemented, saying it suits attacking players such as him.

"It's an incredible feeling to step onto the pitch and have 75,000 people in every game," he continued.

"It's incredible for us and it's up to us to do everything to give it back to them and to make them happy."

"We brought in some very good players this summer. They've adapted very well and we're very happy to have them.

"When there's competition, you have to continue to put in great performances to keep your place, it's a good thing for the team."

Martial came back from a month on the sidelines in the weekend's 3-1 defeat at Aston Villa and is expected to feature against the same opposition in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.
