Anthony Joshua accepts Tyson Fury purse split offer but wants different fight date

Anthony Joshua has now reportedly accepted Tyson Fury's offer ahead of a proposed December 17 fight at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Fury revealed yesterday that he has offered Joshua a 60:40 split for their proposed 'Battle of Britain' fight - a bout which has been years overdue with the two going back and forth for the better part of six years.

The WBC champion, Fury, has revealed that he has made the offer to Joshua's team, with the former lineal champion making the offer to the former WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion of the world.

Joshua was quick to respond to the initial message from Fury, tweeting out on Monday evening that he would be willing to fight in December, he wrote: "Yea calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if your [sic] really about it shout 258mgt. I’ll be ready in December. Khalas."

And today, Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the contracts have been sent to Joshua's camp and have been accepted. Fury wants the fight in November but Joshua is insisting on a December 17 date.

Yesterday, Fury posted a video with the terms to Joshua. He said: "Hi guys, I'm being bombarded with messages on how much am I going to pay AJ and everyone's saying is it going to be 80:20, 70:30, 75:25 - the actual answer is that I've offered him 60:40.

"40 per cent of this amazing fight because I want this fight to happen - he doesn't have any excuses now not to take it. He can't say I've low-balled him and offered him 20, 30 per cent - I've offered the people 40 per cent and take it or leave it".

We now expect to hear more from Hearn and Frank Warren, ahead of an official confirmation of the fight being announced.
