Anthony Gordon transfer claim hands Fabio Paratici incentive to make £25m Tottenham bid

Anthony Gordon has the potential to become Tottenham's fourth summer signing, as football.london understands there is potential to bring the 21-year-old to north London, along with his teammate Richarlison. Spurs have been linked with both Everton players, who could add individual qualities to Antonio Conte's side.

The Toffees had to battle right up until the final few games to keep their place in the Premier League and they could see a number of the squad move on this summer, amid their financial fair play issues. Gordon showed glimpses of his quality and potential last season, scoring four goals and registering two assists in his 35 Premier League appearances, of which he started 25.

There seem to be various options, in terms of deals for both Everton and Tottenham players. The Lilywhites hold interest in Frank Lampard's duo, whilst Harry Winks has been heavily linked with a move to the Liverpool club. Lucas Moura has also been named as a potential makeweight in a deal.

Gordon produced some solid performances during the 2021/22 campaign, but has been impressing for longer than that. In 2020, Carlo Ancelotti waxed lyrical about the youngster. "He is doing really well and is ready to play for Everton, no doubt. He improved in the past six months and how he is playing [in training and games] gives me a lot of confidence and trust in him," Ancelotti admitted.

"He is a player with personality. You can find a lot of players with quality, but you have to show strong personality. In football, you need players with personality and character."

Last season, Gordon made appearances as a left winger, a right winger and an attacking midfielder, which could be a big boost for Conte. Signing a versatile player will help the Italian rotate his set-up when he needs to, with quality options in the depth of his squad, something the 52-year-old struggled without last season.

Earlier this year and playing under Lampard, the 21-year-old was producing more eye-catching displays, that didn't go unnoticed. "I’ve been watching Anthony this season as an outsider, a neutral, and I love things about his game," Lampard said.

"When you come to see someone you try not to make too many judgments but I’ve seen him first-hand and he loves this club and he has a great attitude and all the attributes to do what he wants in this game."

Gordon's impact didn't stop there and despite the Toffees losing 5-0 to Tottenham in March, the Everton boss still picked out the winger. "There are no positives tonight, apart from Anthony Gordon, and a couple of performances of credit in terms of people who didn’t give up. That should be the bare minimum and I will demand that," he explained.

The following month and the youngster was continuing to get praise, but something Fabrice Muamba said, could pique Conte's interest even more. "This young man here, Anthony Gordon, at 21 years old and to be involved in a Merseyside derby and play the way he played, he deserves a lot of credit," Muamba admitted, after Everton's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

"Gordon for me, he was Everton’s best player. No matter what happens, he won’t be there for very long if he continues to play like that."

The Toffees man finished his season on a high, which is likely to be the reason he has sparked interest in the summer window. Gordon still has a few years left on his contract, so a move away could be costly, with his current market value at up to £25.9million according to CIES Football Observatory.

However, if Muamba's comment does come true and the 21-year-old does leave the Liverpool club, Tottenham will be one of the many teams likely to be interested. Spurs will hope they would be able to encourage the winger to make the move to N17, with the top facilities, a world-class manager and Champions League football to offer.

The Lilywhites could face competition for the youngster, but only time will tell where Gordon ends up, if he does move away from Everton.
