Anthony Gordon exit chances looking 'slim' as Everton ask sponsor to remove imagery

Here's your Everton FC morning headlines, for Monday, August 29.

Anthony Gordon Chelsea move chances getting slimmer

The chances of Anthony Gordon's protracted move to Chelsea going ahead in the next few days are starting to look 'slim'. That's according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein this morning.

Writing in his column, he said: "The chances of Everton’s Anthony Gordon completing a move to Stamford Bridge are now thought to be slim too, with sources pointing to a substantial gulf in valuation between the negotiating clubs. Manchester United are believed to have made a late check on Gordon’s availability before stepping up their pursuit of Ajax winger Antony."

Last week it was reported that Chelsea had made an improved offer for Gordon believed to be worth £60million but that was bluntly denied by Everton boss Frank Lampard at his pre-match press conference before the weekend match against Brentford.

If Chelsea cannot meet Everton's valuation, the talented forward looks set to stay at Goodison Park for this transfer window at least.

Everton distance themselves from shirt sponsor's international betting 'offer'

Everton have asked shirt sponsor Stake.com to remove their imagery from a controversial international betting promotion, according to a Guardian report.

The club has received some criticism from fans and campaign groups for featuring in an incentive that offers a $10 free bet to anyone who has wagered more than $5,000 with the company in the past seven days. The offer is not available in the UK but can still be viewed online.

As per a report in the Guardian, the club has now asked Stake.com not to use any pictures of Everton players or shirts in the promotion. It is understood that Everton's chief executive, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, was not aware of the promotion prior to its launch.
