Anthony Elanga makes Manchester United promise after goal against Brentford

Anthony Elanga has vowed to continue to work hard to get more goals for Manchester United.

After making great progress throughout the Reds' academy ranks, Elanga was handed his first-team debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in May last year versus Leicester City and he's also impressed Ralf Rangnick following Solskjaer's departure.

Elanga, 19, started the away league game at Villa Park on Saturday and Rangnick named him in his starting line-up again on Wednesday night.

And the youngster then emphatically repaid Rangnick's faith in the second half against Brentford when scoring the game's opener, latching onto a ball from Fred to control and nod home.

Elanga reflected on the performance after the 3-1 win and promised that this is only the start of his good work.

"I'd say the second half is when we played our best football," Elanga told BT Sport.

"We really stepped up. I think the goal that I scored, lifted the team up and got the team going. The second came, the third came and it got even better. The touch [for his goal] sets it up, I knew the goalkeeper was close and I needed to head it in.

"These moments, I work for these moments and I know it's only the beginning.

"I just want to continue working hard and to get more goals."
