Ant and Dec land major ITV hosting job after win at BAFTA TV Award win

Ant and Dec have been announced as hosts of a major awards show for the ITV in the aftermath of their win at Sunday night's BAFTAs.

While the hosts said they fully expected to be beaten to the Best Entertainment prize, Ant and Dec saw Saturday Night Takeaway beat off competition from the likes of Strictly Come Dancing and An Audience With Adele to take home the first trophy of the night at London's Royal Festival Hall.

Dec told the star studded audience: "What a thrill! We were convinced we weren't going to get it last year. We just came for a bit of a party, so this is...." He continued: ""This is a really wonderful cherry on the cake. This is for series 17 of Saturday Night Takeaway, which we shot with no studio audience. We were just in there walking around to the sound of our own footsteps and we were kind of going 'Is this any good? Is anyone watching?"

After their BAFTA TV awards win, Ant and Dec are now at the centre of some more big awards news, with them confirmed as hosts of The Prince's Trust awards, as it airs on ITV for the first time. In the presence of Founder and President of The Prince’s Trust HRH The Prince of Wales, this year will mark the seventeenth year of the Awards, which celebrate the extraordinary achievements of young people supported by the charity.

The Awards will honour the success of young people who are supported by The Prince’s Trust, whilst showcasing their incredible accomplishments. Sharing their remarkable stories, we will hear first-hand from individuals who have overcome significant barriers to transform their lives and futures for the better, with them joined on stage by a host of stars from film, television, music and sport.

On hosting the awards, Ant said: “It’s an absolute privilege to be involved in The Prince’s Trust Awards again this year and to be hosting it for the 10th time. It is always so inspirational to hear from these young people who through pure determination and against all odds have come out fighting and achieved so much.” Dec commented: “We’re honoured to play a part in the amazing work of The Prince’s Trust. The young people celebrated at The Prince’s Trust Awards have shown real strength, commitment and dedication and are proof that the support offered by The Trust really is life changing.”

The Prince’s Trust helps young people from disadvantaged communities to get their lives back on track, by giving them the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn. Founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1976, the charity supports 11 to 30-year-olds across the UK who are unemployed, those struggling at school or at risk of exclusion. Since its inception The Trust has supported more than one million people in the UK.
