Ant and Dec divide fans with Saturday Night Takeaway guest host announcement

Ant and Dec have divided opinion amongst fans of Saturday Night Takeaway with the news on who's going to be the Star Guest Announcer this weekend.

So far this series, the Geordie duo have invited the likes of RuPaul, Paloma Faith and, most recently Anna Maxwell-Martin into the voice over booth of their ITV show to provide regular teasers and updates throughout the 90 minute live show. Line of Duty star Anna did the honours last weekend, when she was given the job of introducing Michael Buble to the stage.

And, if you didn't catch the very brief announcement from Ant and Dec right the end of Saturday's episode, the next Star Guest Announcer will be Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan's famous radio host alias. Now, while Alan has plenty of fans out there, who have loved all of his many sketches over the years, other viewers don't seem too enamoured with the fact he's going to be on Takeaway.

After Takeaway and Ant and Dec shared the news of his appearance on Twitter, one replied: "Unpopular opinion but I’ve never found Alan partridge funny," with a second distinctly unimpressed viewer reacting: "Oh no! Don't like him. oh well"

A third posted: "Good luck with that!" but others were much more positive with their reactions. Clearly a big of a Partridge fan, one enthused: "Cool can’t wait see you on Saturday night," with another tweeting: "Genius."

As well as Alan Partridge being in the voice over booth, Saturday's show will also see George Ezra follow in the footsteps of Michael Buble, Sam Fender and the cast of Drag Race UK by being the latest End of the Show Show Performer.
