Ant and Dec defend Boy George after wave of complaints from I'm A Celebrity viewers

Ant and Dec have weighed in on the latest I'm A Celebrity drama, this time surrounding Boy George after he was heard making comments about his fellow campmates.

The Culture Club star was criticised by viewers after going on a rant during the latest episode of the ITV show, complaining to fellow campmate Seann Walsh that he felt there was "a pressure not to rock the boat". While his co-stars were letting off some steam playing a game of What's The Time Mr Wolf, Boy George moaned that he felt "stifled" by their behaviour.

"When everyone's being so well behaved, to me, it doesn't feel real," he said. And everyone's favourite Geordie duo had some thoughts on the star's behaviour in the jungle as they called out some of the critical comments made by viewers.

Taking to Instagram Live after the show, the hosts asked viewers what they thought of Boy George's antics - and shared their own opinions on what many viewers had been saying on social media. "This is the thing that intrigues me - everybody's going: 'Oh, get Boy George out, he just wants to cause drama!'" Dec said.

As the pair both turned to look into the camera, he asked the audience: "Isn't that a good thing?"

Ant chimed in to question viewers: "But you like drama, don't you? That's the whole point."

Comments from Instagram users then began to roll in, with Dec reading out one remark that branded Boy George 'annoying'. Coming to the star's defence, Ant responded: "See, I disagree though. I like the fact that George... he's very set in his ways, and he's not going to pretend to be somebody he's not.

"That's the one thing you've got with Boy George. He is his authentic self - and that's good. And he thinks some people in there are playing a game of being a bit fake. What do you think?"

As more comments from viewers came through, Dec then read out a comment from one fan who accused Boy George of 'only wanting to cause trouble'. "Is that bad?" the host asked, laughing.

"But I don't think he does," Ant weighed in. "I think he thinks that some people in there are fake."

"But he's two-faced, Ant," Dec said, quoting another viewer's comment. Ant shot back: "Is he now? Is he?"

Dec agreed: "I don't think he is two-faced. He's telling everybody what he's thinking."

"He told Matt [Hancock] what he thought," Ant pointed out. "Took him a little while, but he did tell him."

Charlene White became the first celebrity to be evicted from camp, surprising many viewers who thought that MP Matt Hancock would be the first to go after the outrage surrounding his participation in the show. 10 celebrities now remain in the jungle, and the evictions are about to come thick and fast with the second star due to be booted out during tonight's (Sunday's) episode.
