Ant and Dec confirm final Saturday Night Takeaway guest announcer as viewers left gutted

Ant and Dec have confirmed the identity of this week's Saturday Night Takeaway Star Guest Announcer, as fans struggle to come to terms with the fact that the show is coming to an end for another year.

The new series of Takeaway has had everything. Over the past few months, the hit ITV programme has give us a shock wedding, a tearful Surprise Surprise-esque family reunion, Sam Fender and his band closing the show with Local Hero and even Ant and Dec in drag!

So social media was filled with disappointment when Ant revealed last week that Takeaway was coming to the end of its run. And, while the fact that its ending has been slightly announced with the news that Britain's Got Talent is coming back, with Ant and Dec confirming a start date of Easter Saturday, April 16; plenty of viewers simply don't want Takeaway to end.

Details are rather scarce on what exactly will happen in Saturday's finale. There's no news yet on who will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Sam, George Ezra and Michael Buble by being the last End of the Show Show act, but we do now know who will be the final Star Guest Announcer.

On Thursday, a post shared by Ant and Dec via the Saturday Night Takeaway Twitter account revealed that comedian Lee Mack will do the honours, after an eclectic mix of celebs, including RuPaul, Paloma Faith and the rather controversial Alan Partridge, have been in the voice over booth this year. The tweet read: "We're proud to reveal that we've got funnyman @LeeMack as our final star Guest Announcer of the series!"

Reacting to the news, many fans were quick to share their disappointment the show was ending, with one responding: "Aww can’t believe it’s the last show of the series." A second replied: "I’m gutted to say I will miss Saturdays episode as I am on a night shift in A&E, so, I will have to postpone my Saturday night takeaway to a Sunday night one instead! I love this programme thank you for bringing so much joy."
