Ant and Dec apologise after Saturday Night Takeaway segment makes dogs go 'crazy'

Ant and Dec fans were delighted to see a fan-favourite segment make a comeback in Saturday Night Takeaway - but many viewers with dogs at home found themselves experiencing the same problem.

The popular Ring My Bell game returned in the latest episode of the ITV series, which sees an unsuspecting member of the audience have their Ring doorbell 'hijacked' by Ant and Dec. The duo tell neighbours watching at home to dash to the front door with an item of their instruction, often leading to hilarious results.

The most recent edition of the challenge descended into chaos as several neighbours were seen rushing across the street carrying saucepans, meaning that the pair had to quickly change the competition rules. But several households with dogs had the same complaint over the skit - saying that the noise of the doorbell left their pooches going "crazy".

"Anyone else's dog going mad when Ant and Dec do the ding dong my doorbell bit?" one fan asked on Twitter.

Another said: "My dogs are going berserk with the Ring doorbells." Meanwhile, someone else wrote: "I have to mute that part of the show, as my boy runs around barking."

"Ant and Dec, your game is confusing my poor dog tonight," one viewer complained. "Three times she's gone to the door."

Someone else who tuned in said: "Every time the doorbell goes on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway the dog goes nuts and runs to the door barking."

Another wrote: "Having a Sunday morning chill, dog is snuggled in asleep, watching last night's Saturday Night Takeaway with Ant and Dec and guess what they have introduced - Ring My Bell. FFS. He's off the couch. He's gannin crackers."

The official Saturday Night Takeaway Twitter account said: "We would like to apologise in advance to all the doggos across the country who don't like this part of the episode." But most viewers seemed to see the funny side, as the series continued to receive praise from fans who were delighted by the return of Ring My Bell.

"My favourite segment! It's so fun!" one person wrote. And another added: "It's a brilliant show. I've watched every episode since it first came out."
