Another two witnesses are set to testify in a Perth court that they too were sexually assaulted as children by football legend Barry Cable.

Mr Cable is being sued by a woman over allegations he abused her for years when she was a teenager, and he was in the prime of his playing career,  in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The woman's case, which is being heard in the District Court, had been due to start wrapping up this afternoon.

However, at the start of proceedings, her barrister Tim Hammond SC revealed the two women had only come forward in the past 24 hours.

Mr Hammond said the women were alleging they were abused around the same time as another witness, who testified on Monday that she was molested by Mr Cable in the early 1980s when he was coach of the North Melbourne Football Club.

Five women now allege abuse

"They will independently give evidence of their own experience of being sexually assaulted by the defendant," Mr Hammond told the court.

The women are scheduled to give their evidence via video link from Victoria when the case resumes tomorrow.

The new witnesses would bring the total number of women who claim to have been abused by the now 79-year-old to five, including the woman who is suing him.

Mr Cable categorically denies all the allegations against him and while there was a police investigation into the woman's claims, he has never been charged.

He is not represented by a lawyer and is taking no part in the hearing, instead relying on written material already filed with the court to defend himself.

The woman is suing him for around $1 million in damages for the catastrophic harm she claims she suffered.

Mr Cable's high profile deterred complainants

The two other women who have testified at the hearing both told the court Mr Cable had abused them.

One of the women, who gave evidence on Friday, alleged Mr Cable was sexually inappropriate with her on three occasions — once in the late 1980s when she was around eight and twice in the early 1990s when she was a teenager.

She said she did not make a formal complaint to police for personal reasons and because she was concerned about repercussions because Mr Cable was famous.

The second woman, who testified on Monday, alleged she was sexually abused in a spa in either 1983 or 1984 when she was 10 or 11 years old.

She told the court she did not tell her parents or make a complaint to police because of Mr Cable's high profile, saying she felt scared and intimidated.
