Another Delhi-based doctor arrested in kidney racket

NEW DELHI: While probing the kidney racket case busted on Monday, Delhi Police arrested another doctor on Friday from northwest Delhi. He was working at a private hospital in Uttam Nagar. Police identified the suspect as Dr Priyansh, 34, alias Sameer, a resident of Rohini. He completed his medical studies in Uttar Pradesh, earning his MBBS degree from a college in Bareilly and the MS degree from a college in Etawah.

Benita Mary Jaiker, DCP (South), said the arrested man was a surgeon. During investigation, the cops found that Sameer was assisting the main accused, Kuldeep Ray, in the transplantation racket and he was paid Rs 1 lakh per transplant. "Though a surgeon, Sameer assisted Kuldeep, an OT technician, in the transplant surgery. He used to suture the cuts after surgery," an investigator said.
