She's the American queen of burgers but the owner of Annie's Burger Shack is pulling out all the stops celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. She has taken the best of British and turned them into a wacky burger to mark the momentous occasion.
The restaurant, in Broadway, Nottingham, is famous for its 34-strong menu of gourmet burgers, each of which features a variety of ingredients based on a specific theme to give diners an unforgettable eating experience. Owner Anmarie Spaziano came up with the idea, topping the patty with a Yorkshire pudding 'plate' filled with roast beef slices and royal recipe cream mushroom Balmoral whisky sauce.
On top of that is a large 'silver platter' crouton, with a mini-Melton Mowbray pork pie and a touch of Colman’s English mustard. As if that's not madcap enough there's also a handmade Coronation Chicken ball with fresh pea-shoot leaves, a wedge of Cathedral City cheddar and an Earl Grey lemon chamomile flower scone with lemon clotted cream and Tiptree rindless marmalade, lemon icing and edible English rose petals on top.

As is the way with Annie’s, every ingredient tells a story, with Cathedral City having been given a Royal Warrant as the Queen’s preferred supplier, the marmalade being the Queen’s favourite preserve and the Coronation Chicken having been created to celebrate her ascending to the throne in 1952.
The Balmoral whisky and mushroom cream sauce, meanwhile, has been revealed as the Queen’s favourite sauce to accompany steak.
The burger, which will be launched on Wednesday June 1, will be served with a choice of fries and, like everything else on the menu will be available in a vegan, veggie and meaty option.
American-born Annie said: “It’s fantastic to see how the whole country is getting behind the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and of course we wanted to do something that marked the occasion too.
“It’s been huge fun sourcing everything and trying to put it altogether keeping in mind what flavours and traditions should be included to reflect her reign over the past 70 years.
“Do I think she would she eat it? I would certainly hope so! We do know that the Queen does like venison burgers but prefers to eat them with a knife and fork and without a bun, so if she was to visit and we had prior notice then we would be delighted to create a special Jubilee burger just for her.”
The Jubilee burger costs £13.90. Annie's is also hosting a bottomless brunch promotion for June 2 to 5 where customers can buy a burger and unlimited drinks for £29.95.
