Anne Heche's son granted control of her estate after fierce battle with late actress' ex

Anne Heche 's son Homer Heche Laffoon has been granted control of his late mother's estate, despite objections from the actress' former partner James Tupper.

The 20-year-old was appointed as permanent administrator of the estate on Wednesday, marking the end of his bitter battle with the 57-year-old actor.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lee Bogdanoff gave control to Homer, denying the motion by James to have an independent administrator appointed.

James had argued that Homer was "not suitable" to run the estate because of his age and his unemployment status. He also highlighted how Homer was not in contact with his mum at the time of her death.

The judge also denied James' request for a hearing to investigate the claim that Anne's $200,000 (£163,000) jewellery collection has gone missing.

Homer was granted permission to "take possession of all the personal property of the estate of the decedent and preserve it from damage, waste, and injury," according to court documents obtained by People.

Homer's attorney Bryan Phipps issued a statement to the publication after the hearing: "We believe the court reached the correct result this morning, both legally and equitably, and are glad to have this phase of the process behind us.

"With Mr. Tupper's allegations and objections now resolved, we are hopeful the administration of the Estate can proceed without unnecessary complication."

James and Anne were together for nearly ten years before separating in January 2018. They share 13-year-old son Atlas.

The Big Little Lies actor had claimed back in August that an email sent by his ex-partner in 2011, which allegedly expressed her wishes for Tupper to be the executor in the result of her death, should be treated as a will.

However, it appears no further paperwork was ever filed.

Homer fought back in a filing, claiming that the email is not a legally recognised will because Anne did not sign the document.

Anne died at the age of 53 after she crashed her Mini Cooper into a two-storey home in Los Angeles on August 5. It is thought her vehicle was travelling 90mph before the horror crash.

She was left on life support for a week before it was switched off and she was declared 'legally dead' on August 12.
