Annan has won £10,000 for a community fund as well as a programme of mentorship for local businesses.
The community was selected as one of the winners at the Visa Let’s Celebrate Towns Awards in London.
Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell accepted the Scotland’s Rising Star Certificate on behalf of the Annan History Town team at an event in Westminster.
The group will use the windfall to help develop their blueprint to transform Annan into an attractive visitor destination and highlight its heritage.
Mr Mundell said he was delighted to pass on the certificate in Annan to some of those involved: “The award reflects all the hard work that goes on in Annan all year round in community groups, organisations and businesses of varying sizes which add to the vibrancy and can-do spirit of the town.”
