Annan chief Peter Murphy reckons one of the most difficult factors in tomorrow’s away day collision with Albion Rovers is their pitch.
The Cliftonhill surface has taken heavy punishment with a spate of recent clashes at the Coatbridge ground including a 3-1 midweek win over Elgin City.
Murphy told how he had the game watched ahead of the Galabankies trip to face Wee Rovers.
He said: “Their pitch has taken a pounding and it is not conducive to good football.
“We went up to see them and I don’t think their pitch will be much improved by the time we play on it this weekend.
“And that will dictate how the game will be played.
“They are a good team Albion Rovers, but they now face a lot of games Saturday then Tuesday from now on and that will take its toll on them.
“But we just have to go there and work very hard to try and pick up the points.”
Murphy was still fuming at his side letting the chance of a home win slip against 10-man Stirling Albion last weekend.
The Binos bounced back in the second half after trailing 2-0 to goals from Aidan Smith and Tony Wallace to nick a point in a 2-2 draw.
Murphy said: “It was very disappointing after going two goals up in the first half and being in total control of the game.
“Now we have to go to Albion Rovers and put that right.”
